Not all fishing is bad. Some methods of fishing, such as fishing with a rod, are not bad for the ocean. This is because it is all in small quantities. However this does not turn up much profit so big companies use destuctive fishing methods to get higher profits. Some of these methods are Trawling, Cyanide fishing, Dynamite fishing and Ghost fishing.

Why don't governments stop overfishing?
Lots of governments put restictions on fishermen to try and stop the amount of fish being taken from the ocean but often either fishing comapnies find loopholes or they move to a country where such laws don't exist. Governments can't completely shut down fishermen because it is a huge industry and if the governments ban it completely their economy coudl collapse. People also want fish and the demand keeps going up as more and more people are born.
